A neural network-based production process modeling and variable importance analysis approach in corn

摘要: Corn to sugar process has long faced the risks of high energy consumption and thin profits. However, it’s hard to upgrade or optimize the process based on mechanism unit operation models due to the high complexity of the related processes. Big data technology provides a promising solution as its ability to turn huge amounts of data into insights for operational decisions. In this paper, a neural network-based production process modeling and variable importance analysis approach is proposed for corn to sugar processes, which contains data preprocessing, dimensionality reduction, multilayer perceptron/convolutional neural network/recurrent neural network based modeling and extended weights connection method. In the established model, dextrose equivalent value is selected as the output, and 654 sites from the DCS system are selected as the inputs. LASSO analysis is first applied to reduce the data dimension to 155, then the inputs are dimensionalized to 50 by means of genetic algorithm optimization. Ultimately, variable importance analysis is carried out by the extended weight connection method, and 20 of the most important sites are selected for each neural network. The results indicate that the multilayer perceptron and recurrent neural network models have a relative error of less than 0.1%, which have a better prediction result than other models, and the 20 most important sites selected have better explicable performance. The major contributions derived from this work are of significant aid in process simulation model with high accuracy and process optimization based on the selected most important sites to maintain high quality and stable production for corn to sugar processes.

Numerical analysis of hydrodynamic process of circular-translational-moving polishing (CTMP)

摘要: By keeping a pad moving relative to a wafer along a circular path without rotation, we developed a polishing technique called circular-translational-moving polishing (CTMP), which permits multidirectional polishing of the work piece and thus bears the advantage of isotropic polishing and a potential increase of material removal rate (MRR) on the wafer. To illuminate the mechanisms of CTMP and determine the optimum process variables in a CTMP process, a three-dimensional hydrodynamic lubrication model for CTMP with a smooth and rigid pad under a quasi-stable state is established in a polar coordinate system. The model equations are further calculated numerically by the finite difference method. The instantaneous distribution of fluid pressure is obtained, which shows that a negative pressure exists. The reason for negative pressure in CTMP and its effect on polishing is discussed. Moreover, the nominal clearance of the fluid film, roll, and pitch angles under different working conditions are obtained in terms of the applied load, moments, and polishing velocity. The obtained numerical analysis can be used as guidance for choosing operation parameters in a practical CTMP application.

Split-order consolidation optimization for online supermarkets: Process analysis and optimization models

摘要: The large-scale online supermarket is a newly emerging online retailing mode which brings great convenience to people. Online supermarkets are characterized by having large amounts of daily orders with potentially multiple items, diverse delivery times, and a high order-split rate. Multiple shipments for one order caused by order splitting result in high cost and disturbance and a large number of discarded consumable packages at online retailers and customers, causing severe damage to the environment. Accordingly, research on split-order consolidation fulfilment is critical for the advancement of the practice and theory in the context of highly complex online retailing. This paper first analyzes the characteristics and the challenges associated with the split-order consolidation problem that online supermarket is confronting and summarizes the new operational process of split-order consolidation fulfilment. Then, a time–space network optimization model is built, and its corresponding solution algorithm is presented to solve the questions of where and when to consolidate the split orders. Finally, the computation results of the numerical experiments are provided to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm, and a sensitivity analysis of the relevant parameters is performed. This work highlights the effect of order consolidation processes and fulfilment methods on the order fulfilment decision-making for online supermarkets. The purpose of this article is to help pave the way for more effective online supermarket management and order implementation.

Catalytic process modeling and sensitivity analysis of alkylation of benzene with ethanol over MIL-101

摘要: A solvothermal method was used to synthesize MIL-101(Fe) and MIL-88(Fe), which were used for alkylation of benzene. The synthesized catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscope, dynamic light scattering, and BET techniques. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were modeled to investigate the catalytic performance and existence of mass transfer limitations. Calculated effectiveness factors revealed absence of internal and external mass transfer. Sensitivity analysis revealed best operating conditions over MIL-101 at 120°C and 5 bar and over MIL-88 at 142°C and 9 bar.

Inverse Gaussian process-based corrosion growth modeling and its application in the reliability analysis

摘要: This paper describes an inverse Gaussian process-based model to characterize the growth of metal-loss corrosion defects on energy pipelines. The model parameters are evaluated using the Bayesian methodology by combining the inspection data obtained from multiple inspections with the prior distributions. The Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulation techniques are employed to numerically evaluate the posterior marginal distribution of each individual parameter. The measurement errors associated with the ILI tools are considered in the Bayesian inference. The application of the growth model is illustrated using an example involving real inspection data collected from an in-service pipeline in Alberta, Canada. The results indicate that the model in general can predict the growth of corrosion defects reasonably well. Parametric analyses associated with the growth model as well as reliability assessment of the pipeline based on the growth model are also included in the example. The proposed model can be used to facilitate the development and application of reliability-based pipeline corrosion management.

Statistical process control with intelligence using fuzzy ART neural networks

摘要: With the automation development of manufacturing processes, artificial intelligence technology has been gradually employed to increase the automation and intelligence degree in quality control using statistical process control (SPC) method. In this paper, an SPC method based on a fuzzy adaptive resonance theory (ART) neural network is presented. The fuzzy ART neural network is applied to recognize the special disturbance of the manufacturing processes based on the classification on the histograms, which shows that the fuzzy ART neural network can adaptively learn the features of the histograms of the quality parameters in manufacturing processes. As a result, the special disturbance can be automatically detected when a feature of the special disturbance starts to appear in the histograms. At the same time, combined with spectrum analysis of the autoregressive model of quality parameters, the fuzzy ART neural network can also be utilized to adaptively detect the abnormal patterns in the control chart.

Permeability analysis and seepage process study on crystal layer in melt crystallization with fractal

摘要: In this paper a porous media seepage model was applied to analyze the permeability and study the seepage process of crystal pillar formed in the preparation of electronic grade phosphoric acid (EGPA). By inspecting the seeping process, the structure parameter of crystal pillar could be obtained. Two basic ideal models (perfectly separated model and perfectly connected model) were presented and a characterized factor was introduced to modify the model. A good simulation result was obtained which met the experiment result well. The relationship between and permeability were also discussed. The characterized factor showed potential application on optimizing process.

Assessment of fracture process in forta and polypropylene fiber-reinforced concrete using experimentalanalysis and digital image correlation

摘要: This paper aims to characterize the evolution of the fracture process and the cracking behavior in Forta-Ferro (FF) and Polypropylene (PP) fiber-reinforced concrete under the uniaxial compressive loading using experimental analysis and digital image correlation (DIC) on the surface displacement. For this purpose, 6 mix designs, including two FF volume fractions of 0.10, and 0.20% and three PP volume fractions of 0.20, 0.30, and 0.40%, in addition to a control mix were evaluated according to compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, toughness index, and stress-strain curves. The influence of fibers on the microstructural texture of specimens was analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging. Results show that FF fiber-reinforced concrete specimens demonstrated increased ductility and strength compared to PP fiber. DIC results revealed that the major crack and fracture appeared at the peak load of the control specimen due to brittleness and sudden gain of large lateral strain, while a gradual increase in micro-crack quantity at 75% of peak load was observed in the fiber specimens, which thenbegan to connect with each other up to the final fracture. The accuracy of the results supports DIC as a reliable alternative for the characterization of the fracture process in fiber-reinforced concrete.

Process simulation and economic analysis of reactor systems for perfluorinated compounds abatement without

摘要: New and efficient reactor systems were proposed to treat perfluorinated compounds via catalytic decomposition. One system has a single reactor (S-1), and another has a series of reactors (S-2). Both systems are capable of producing a valuable CaF and eliminating toxic HF effluent and their feasibility was studied at various temperatures with a commercial process simulator, Aspen HYSYS . They are better than the conventional system, and S-2 is better than S-1 in terms of CaF production, a required heat for the system, natural gas usage and CO emissions in a boiler, and energy consumption. Based on process simulation results, preliminary economic analysis shows that cost savings of 12.37% and 13.55% were obtained in S-2 at 589.6 and 621.4 °C compared to S-1 at 700 and 750 °C, respectively, for the same amount of CaF production.

Simulation analysis of methanol flash distillation circulation process in biodiesel production with supercritical

摘要: High methanol-to-oil ratio is required to obtain a high conversion of oil for the production of biodiesel with supercritical methanol. Recovering the methanol of a stream issuing from a transesterification supercritical reactor by flash distillation instead of evaporation was analyzed. The one-stage and two-stage flash distillation processes were presented and compared. The difference of the recovery percentage of methanol of the above two flash processes is less than 0.5% and the methanol concentration in the vapor for the one-stage process decreases rapidly when feed temperature increases. The process in which the product of transesterification of soybean oil with supercritical methanol is cooled to an appropriate temperature (about 240°C) first and then flashed was put forward. The effect of cooling temperature, feed pressure and flash pressure on methanol concentration and recovery percentage was investigated. According to this study, when the feed pressure range is 15–30 MPa, the flash pressure equals 0.4 MPa, and cooling temperature range is 240°C–250°C, the recovery percentage of methanol is not less than 85%, and the concentration of the vapor in mass fraction of methanol is approximately 99%. Thus, the vapor leaving the flash tank can be directly circulated to the transesterification reactor.

Process analysis of syngas production by non-catalytic POX of oven gas

摘要: A non-catalytic POX of oven gas is proposed to solve the problem of secondary pollution due to solid wastes produced from the great amount of organic sulfur contained in oven gas in the traditional catalytic partial oxidation (POX) process. A study of the measurement of flow field and a thermodynamic analysis of the process characteristics were conducted. Results show that there exist a jet-flow region, a recirculation-flow region, a tube-flow region, and three corresponding reaction zones in the non-catalytic POX reformer. The combustion of oven gas occurs mainly in the jet-flow region, while the reformation of oven gas occurs mainly in the other two regions. Soot would not be formed by CH cracking at above 1200°C. Since there are very little C hydrocarbons in oven gas, the soot produced would be very tiny, even if they underwent cracking reaction. The integrated model for entrained bed gasification process was applied to simulate a non-catalytic POX reformer. It indicated that the proper oxygen-to-oven gas ratio is 0.22–0.28 at different pressures in the oven gas reformation process.

摘要:

介绍作者开发的一种汽油机用新型燃料,为检验其品质,对发动机缸内过程参数进行了全面测试分析。结果表明:汽油机燃用轻油基混合燃料时无爆震,动力性稍低于燃用汽油,缸内过程参数标准偏差明显低于燃用汽油。这充分说明,所开发的轻油基混合燃料品质优良,适于汽油机使用。
